Planning: Similar ideas

Similar Ideas

Introduction:
The similar music videos that we have chosen allow us to further improve our ideas for our music video and it also gives us more ideas on our music video where we could use it in our music video. Also it gives us ideas on specific topics such as star image we can look at the similar music videos which have been a success and look to use our star image like that in our music video.

This is our music video which we have chosen to use in our music video
Similar ideas:

This music video Chance the rapper juice: is a similar music video to our original idea as it has star image present in the music video and the narrative of the music video is very similar to our music video as the star image is represented well and it allows the audience to connect with artist as in this music video the artist is in the streets and this is similar to our music video as our artist with be located on the streets and the street location is very conventional to our genre and this music video is very similar to our music video and we will like to include this in our music video.

This music video The weeknd King of falls: This music video is similar to our music video as the music video shows the artist getting high and using drugs and that I what our music video is about therefore it is a similar idea to our music video. The narrative of the music video  too use.is what is similar to our music video and it is what we want to include in our music video as we want to show our artist being lost and substance abuse and this music video has all these concepts in the music video which we want

This music video The weeknd Poetic justice: is similar to our music video as it has a similar narrative to our music video. This is why we could use this music video by analysing the music video to use a similar narrative in our music video which would make our music video a success. The music video is conventional in how it represents the artist in the music video ad we would like to use this similarly in our music video to enhance our star image and allow the audience to build a connection with the artist as the star image is clear.

Conclusion:

From this post I have learnt that we can gain ideas from similar music video which enhance our idea and thinking towards our final product which is our music video. Also these ideas have allowed my to come up with new ideas and make a conventional music video that is not similar to any other music videos.

Planning: Storyboard

Storyboard

What is a storyboard?:

A storyboard is a platform to display our idea of our music video in what will happen and it allows us to show what will take place in our music video shot by shot and it helps with our planning for our production

Conclusion:

I have learnt from my storyboard how to plan my music video in individual shots and I have learnt more about my music video and how achievable my storyboard is.

Planning: Location

Location

Why chose a location?:
Our chosen location we chose is very important as the location is key in our music video as it allows the themes and the genre of our music video to be expressed. Also it allows their to be a visual aid as if the lyrics have a certain meaning and our location is not correct then our music video meaning would not be correct.

Relevant lyrics:
  • The relevant lyrics are in this part of the location. "My Druggy, Love me, When im ugly, Hug me". The dark location shows the his dark feelings him feeling low from relationship trouble.
Relevant to Genre:
  • Rap music video use dark location as it is very conventional and also in dark location in music video genres such as that there is substance abuse therefore this is the reason we are using a dark location to show that his is feeling low and he is taking drugs.
Relevant to target audience:
  • The audience can relate as when they have relationship trouble they to sit in dark room all by themselves thinking about their relationship problems.
Describe Location:
  • The dark location is going to be used at the start of the music video as we need show the audience that the artist is in a dark place getting high and thinking about someone eg: his druggy.
Advantages of the location:
  • A dark location can be used easily as shooting in a bedroom is very easy and it will save time for our overall production time.
Potential problems and how will you overcome them:
  • Dark location pose the hazard of tripping up in the dark location or getting hurt by sharp objects.
  • We will overcome this by making sure that the location is safe to shoot in and anything dangerous will be kept out of the way.
Existing videos that have influenced the idea:
  • The weeknd King Of Falls

Relevant lyrics:
  • The relevant lyrics are in this part of the location. "She met her match, I let her match, She lit her match, she let me smoke". This bedroom scene will be used a from the lyrics this part is very intimate and the best place to connote intimacy is in the bedroom as the female artist will light the cigarette for the male artist.
Relevant to Genre:
  • Rap music video use of the bedroom is very conventional in these type of music's.
Relevant to target audience:
  • The audience can relate as when they have relationship trouble they to sit in dark room all by themselves thinking about their relationship problems.
Describe Location:
  • Relationships between young adults the audience can relate to this
  • Most people hide in their rooms when they are upset
Advantages of the location:
  •  Shooting in a bedroom is very easy and it will save time for our overall production time.
  • It is easy to get to
  • Also can be flexible when filming in the bedroom
Potential problems and how will you overcome them:
  • The hazard is a fire hazard as a cigarette will be lit in the bedroom
  • we will over come this by having water nearby
  • Also creating the right type of lighting and use natural lighting such as candles and torches.
Existing videos that have influenced the idea:
  • The weeknd King Of Falls
  • Chance the rapper Juice

Planning: Outline of a Narrative

Outline of a Narrative

This music video influenced us as a group to look at the way the male artist was represented in the music video and how we could be use star image in our music video. For our final idea our male artist will be very dosing and trippy showing that he is under the influence of substances where the female artist is his drug this is why this music video is the best music video to use for ideas for our final idea. The use of star image in this music video is used very well and it is used effectively and used in a variety of ways which could be very good for our final idea.

This song influenced our final Idea through the star Image of the female artist. As Goodwin theory states that star image motifs must occur in the music video as part of the 8 characteristics that make a music video in this video it occurs with the close up shots of the female's lips and body as well as the mid side shot of her dyed hair.  For our final idea , we are going to use a females actress an singer towards the end of the son in our music video. We want to present her image as a commodity what our target audience will be able to buy into.

Cashmere Cat- Wedding Bells:

Whilst analysis this music video, we focused on the structure that's being portrayed in this music video

Performance:

There is no performance present in this music video because there is no artist involved in the music video

Narrative:
  • The narrative is about a relationship between the two male and female from the beginning to the end. Through ups and downs, they have never left each others side and in the end we see the female actor stood in front of the beach before a straight cut where the video ends.
  • We are looking forward to use some similar ideas from this video and adapt and change it to ours because we have the same kind of narrative about the relationship between two people.
Concept:
  • This music video portrayed a mixture of narrative and concept. There are also relations between music and visuals within  this video such as when the two actors argue, the editing become faster with more straight cut and jump cut. The music is also played really fast to match up with the narrative.
  • Moreover the climax breaks down when all the fighting between the two have stopped. The editing become slower and the music became quite with just piano playing.
  • The idea of two of two people when they are first met and when they spend time at places together are really effective through the use of micro-elements such as the setting being in the forest, shopping mall and the use of jump cut into nature image of birds flying away when they are making out and reach to the point of climax. From here, the pace of the music and the the editing gets faster.
Balance of 3:
  • The balance within this music video is very narrative based. However, after every 20 seconds we see some concept images of the nature such as the beach, the sky, birds showing then repeats throughout the song

Choosing and appealing to the target audience

Target audience:
It is important to identify the target audience because then I can will gather all the key information in making a music video that appeals to my chosen target audience in the best possible way with my music video.
Age:  My music video will be aimed at the age category of 15-25 year olds as the music video which we are making is for teenagers and young adults therefore it would not be suitable for anyone below 15  and above 25, In addition we got this age range from our questionnaire.
Gender: The music video is unisex as from the questionnaire we obtained a balance feedback which showed that are music video should appeal to both male and females.
Race: The music video is appealing to all races however I believe that the music video will mostly appeal to the black community.
Audience category: The audience category for our music video will be from the category C2-E. This is because our music video I believe appeals to skilled workers semi skilled and unskilled workers also to students, unemployed and casual workers which all fall in the category C2-E.
Income brackets and status: Our music video will not appeal to the top elites in societies therefore the income brackets that we will target is from 15,000- 40,000 where the audience in that income range will be willing to spend on our music video and album.
Hobbies and interests: The hobbies and interests that the audience will have is dancing, partying, singing, acting and enjoying life this is what we will portray in the music video to make it appealing to the audience and also so that the audience can feel a sense of attachment and connection with the music video.
Audience reaction: I would like my audience to respond to my music video in the following ways through:
  • Audience engagement: The audience are all different and they will each react in a different way to the music video and form their own opinions.
  • Audience expectation: The audience expect certain elements in our music videos. The audience expect to see star image in a music video and Relationship between the lyrics and the visuals, notion of looking, relationship between music and visual all of these expectations have been taken into account and will be met in our music video to meet the expectation of the audience.
  • Audience Foreknowledge: The audience want to have the knowledge of the genre of our music video and the artist and this will be meet by our digi pack and the posters and magazines which we will publish so the audience can have foreknowledge to our music video.
  • Audience placement: Our music video will be specific and appealing to our chosen target audience making the audience feel that the music video is only made for the which it is.

Conclusion:

Our group has chosen this target audience as they are the target audience which our music video will most appeal to and it the target audience which we can get the best reactions from making our music video a success. In addition our music video is aimed at this target audience as it will appeal to student and people in and out of employment.

Song title: Lost
Genre: Soul, Hip Hop, Rap and R&B
I have chosen the artist and the song because I believe that we as a group can represent the artist well and we have a good understanding of the genre to make a music video of this genre. Also it is mainstream and we can make the music video conventional to the music video genre.

Why have you chosen this:
Star Image:  I will be using Dyers star image in my music video

Four elements
