Final Idea:

The Final advert is consistent with my other ancillary products and also the typography.
What also works well is that all the key information is on the advert and the artist image is conventional and star image is present on the advert.

The advert represents our genre well as the artist is the star image on our advert and the typography on the advert represents the R&B genre well

Research and Planning: Drafts of Digipak

Drafts of Digipak

The drafting process as been beneficial to the group and I because each draft showed me and the group could see how our Digipak was developing and receive feedback on to improve our Digipak to make our Digipak the best and the conventional to our music video and genre. The drafting has allowed us as a group to appeal to our target audience.

Draft 1:

The good things:

-There is a clear artist image present
-Most conventions used accurately

What needs to be improved:

-The typography does not need to be on the artists face there is enough space on the side
-Typography does not match the other products
-The colour of the typography needs to be changed

- The images work well together there is consistency
-Track list picture is good and good effect on the typography gradually fading away

What needs to be improved:

-The typography on the CD needs to be improved
-The inside cover image needs to be improved to make it more consistent with the other images
-Typography needs to change

Draft 3:

 The good things:

-The typography is consistent in all the products
-The colour of the typography is good
-Good effect in making the typography fade away

What needs to be improved:

-The inside cover image still needs improving
-The CD cover typography does not work needs to be similar to the other typography's
-Make one the track list names a little darker as it is abit hard to see

Final Digipak:

For our final product, we needed to ensure that our Digipak that the artist image was represented well and there is a clear focus on the artist where the audience can identify who the star image is.
The pictures in the digipak are consistent and the typography.

The final digipak represents the  genre well as it is a clear star image and the star looks very stylish as stars in the R&B genre do. The colour scheme in the digipak suits our genre and our music album as he is lost in paradise as this connotes it with the white background.

Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research and evaluation stages

Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research and evaluation stages?

Evaluation: Question 3 what have you learnt from your feedback

Question 3: what have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Questionnaire:
The questionnaire was part of my initial planning as I carried out the questionnaire to further develop my ideas for my music video a to get feedback from my target audience.

Who is my target audience?:

Genre: Hip Hip and Neon Soul
Age: 16 +
Gender: Unisex
Ethnicity: Diverse ethnicity we look to appeal to all ethnicity not just single out one ethnicity
Occupations: C2-E
Hobbies and Interests: Partying, socialising, dancing, music and sports
Why did you create the questionnaire?:
The questionnaire was created as it was the most efficient and direct way in which I could obtain primary information and research in how to produce the best music video suited to my target audience.
The questionnaire was created to allow al way for me to receive feedback and act upon it such as knowing the audience preference and what they would like to see in my music video and the conventions they would like to see. This allows me to produce a music video and adapt my ideas to the audience needs, which would be visually appealing and pleasing to the audience which would get the best reaction from the audience.

This is my questionnaire which I created and I handed out to my target audience directly making sure I was able to get the best primary research and information.

This is the feedback that I received form questionnaire and with the feedback that I received

One question that i asked in my questionnaire was " Do you want to see star image in the music video?"

The result was out of 20 people asked 15 said yes and 5 said no this shows that the audience want to see a star image in the music video and i will include star image in my music video so that my music video can appeal to the target audience.

Another question asked in my questionnaire was the age category which the people asked fell into

The majority of the target audience were aged 16-21 therefore my music video had to appeal to this target audience and it was easy for me to do this as this is a young generation where the conventions that are in music videos today just need to be included to appeal to the target audience.

This question asked what the audience want to see in the music video performance or narrative or concept in the music video.

From the results it is shown that the audience want to see performance and narrative based music video to appeal to the audience and to cater to their needs my music video will be performance and narrative based.

How did this help you make decisions?

The results of this helped us to create a music video that was original and best suited to the preferences of the target audience. This also helped us to fit our targets within the music video like the themes of the song as well as fulfilling the requirements of our target audience.

The importance of receiving critical feedback once the production has been made:

The importance of receiving feedback that is critical is that it makes us aware if we did make a conventional hip hop/soul music video. Also, critical feedback will help us make targets for improvement.

Why did we put our work on YouTube?

We put our work on YouTube because it is the music sharing video website, Therefore, our product would gain the most amount of media exposure as our target audience usually goes on the website to view music videos giving us more reason to put our music video on the website.

As you can clearly seen we have over 50 views of our music video on YouTube as well as 3 likes to zero.

We didn't receive any comments for our music video cover, but we can still take audience feedback in the sense that it attracted viewers to our music video as a result of putting our media product on the website. This make me rightly believe that we made a conventional music video to the hip hop genre.

Facebook: We also put our music video on Facebook because we wanted it to be  more accessible and criticized by more of our target audience. At least 3 likes were giving to our music video that I shared on Facebook. This also make me think that we made a conventional music video to the hip hop genre.

My Music video was uploaded on my YouTube Channel and on my YouTube channel we received comments.

Positive feedback:

1. Amazing video editing is great used very well

2. Really like the way you guys portray your two artists, very conventional to the RnB genre. I was not expecting the female to sing, a very pleasant surprise. The scenes in the bedroom/shower were really realistic. Could defo see the relationship between the two.

Negative feedback:

1.The lip syncing was a little bit off at some parts of the video, but overall, love it !

What did I learn from the YouTube comments on weather you created a conventional and successful music video?

From my music video comments on YouTube showed that I had created a successful and conventional music vdeo as there was comments on the editing which I wanted the audience to like as this is seen as a success. Also the comment of the music video being conventional as the two artists are represented well in the music video. This shows that my music video is conventional and a success as I wanted it to be with the target audience.

Focus group: Focus groups were held to reflect and review the music video that we released. Some of the critique comments that we had was that we the lip-syncing was a bit slow paced behind the track. Some of the positive feedback we received was that there were good shots taken of our male artist in the music video and also that there was good chemistry between our 2 artists.

In conclusion we used a different media platforms to promote our music video, this would helps us getting as much feedback as possible and it would help our work to receive the much needed publicity and awareness to the target audience, to find out if we made a media product that was conventional or not.All of the feedback would help and will show if i have produce the best music video that i wanted to and see if it really has appealed to the target audience the way in which i had wanted it to.
