Planning: Drafts of advert

Planning advert

Draft:

This is our first draft of our advert.

Positives:
  • The topography is suitable and relevant to our genre
  • The advert is relevant to our music video a very dreamy and lost place
Negatives:
  • Some images are not very relevant for our advert
  • on our advert we need more information such as the release date and the album record company
The drafts of our advert has shown us how our advert will look and how it will be conventional.

Research: Generic conventions and analysing adverts

Generic conventions and analysing adverts

Introduction: Music adverts are a crucial part of a promotion of a artist.

Purpose of the adverts:
The purpose of the magazine adverts is to provide artist and album exposure. In other words, provide a new fan base for the artist. Magazine adverts also help to build a further relationship with the audience. These adverts also leads to merchandizing promotion.

Conventions of magazine adverts is that is always contains the main image of the artist. This is so that the audience are aware of the singer or rapper of the album. This will also contain the sites where the album is available to download. Key singles of the album or mix tape are mentioned in the magazine advert. Comparable artist analysis;

Artist Representation: He is naked and have tattoos around his body. This specifically promotes one of his key singles "Kissing on my tattoos", this is emphasised in the background. He wears accessories like gold chains, gold earrings as well as a branded cap. This advert connotes the genre of hip hop/RnB. This represents the artist as a typical so called "Gangsta",

Typography: Old type of writing in bold is used as the typography. This connotes that the artist views himself as music god. This increases his importance to the music fans and within the industry.

Critical information: The information contains exclusive songs that will make his album more appealing, as well as featuring other artists, which will make the album more appealing, as the featuring artists will have their own fan base, meaning that the artist will sell to a more wide audience.

The artist Image: The artist looks lustful and he is half-naked. This will have a appealing effect on the female audience as they would be swayed by the body of the artist, especially with his tattoos. This also connotes the genre of hip hop and Rnb. Furthermore, this enhances his star image as a commodity.

Lighting and colour: The overall colour of the advert is brown, making it look expensive. High key lighting is used for the artist to help make him stand out. The advert is quite old school looking as well as biblical. These colours make the music advert conventional to it's genre.

Planning: Drafts of digipak

Drafts of Digipak

As a group we each drafted our own design of the digipak in order for us to see as a group how our digipak will look like and will it be a conventional digipak.

These are the designs that we have made individually as a group for our digipak

 Positives

  • The colours that is present in our digipak is suitable for our genre
  • The typography is suitable for own genre on the digipak
  • The important details on the digipak is evident on the digipak
Negatives

  • Star image or artist image needs to present in the digipak
  • The typography has to be consistant with the advert otherwise it looks unprofessional.
  • There is some missing information on the digipak including production company
  • There has to be a cd design on the digipak

For our final product we needed to complete our final digipak by improving and making better our drafts for our digipak by acknowledging the mistakes and working on them.
